Five Password Protected Secure Layers NEWPORT BEACH, California, August 25, 2009 - Newport Digital Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NPDT) announced today that it has reached agreement with The Institute for Information Industry (III) Taiwan and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), both quasi-government Research & Development organizations under the Ministry of Economic Affairs office in Taiwan, to distribute a range of advanced Industrial Grade RFID Devices incorporating advanced u-Chip secure protocol technologies and AT&T required 3G wireless and battery certifications. “NPDT, in collaboration with III and ITRI, has attained exclusive worldwide distribution rights to a range of advanced RFID technologies which include the IP67 industrial grade hand free reader, an industrial monitor with an embedded reader, the world's smallest EPC Global reader module, and fixed and handheld readers,” said Gary DeMel, NPDT CEO. “More products also will be released for distribution this year that contain an advanced u-Chip UHF protocol. The devices will all contain a unique security protocol which can read under the EPC Global Gen 2 layer on the RFID chip, allowing a manufacturer, distributor, importer, distribution center and retailer to each have their own secure password protected 256K bit layer to place their confidential data within this single chip." "This RFID chip has a 2K memory, the largest memory in the industry with deactivation, range adjustment and read/write features, as well as five password protected secure layers,” said Weiling Tsao, NPDT’s COO and CTO. “NDT’s ability to deliver this handheld, industrial RFID reader and corresponding 5-layer RFID chip gives the company a unique position and advantage in the market. We will focus on selling these RFID reader and chip solutions through Ingram Micro, and a variety of other large sales channels. These RFID products and solutions can be sold to clients in the retail, manufacturing, energy, government, medical and a variety of other very large markets to help them track and manage products through distribution channels as well as assets of a company. The opportunity is enormous.” "ITRI has significant experience in industrial RFID technologies from asset tracking to global container tracking systems," said Paul Chang, ITRI's Identification and Security Technology Center, (ISTC) Manager. "ITRI developed and managed the first EPC Global Certified Performance and Conformance Laboratories in Asia and developed a whole range of RFID tags, devices and solutions. Millions of dollars have been invested in the development, testing and certifying of this range of products and we look forward to working with NPDT to bring these solutions to market."
